I am sick and tired of hearing pundits in the media telling us all how the economy is all doom and gloom, manufacturing is failing, service sector is collapsing etc…..
Whilst there is certainly hardship out there for some companies, it is mainly within companies that have built their growth on the same foundations that the current government has delivered “sustained economic growth”. ie. They have borrowed far too much money and have nothing put by for a rainy day!
This current climate in the UK and further afield offers great opportunity to companies able to focus on re-structuring and re-engineering their business processes and systems to reduce wastage and increase sales capacity without the need to increase their administrative overhead. So many companies have developed systems and processes that work fine when just starting out, these companies have then grown and continued to use the same systems. These systems do not always scale well and often businesses that are fundamentally great are stiffled by the cost of managing their administration. This is one of my core areas of expertise and I have seen many companies transformed by a review of their systems and processes and even during these uncertain times a small investment of time and a willingness to change could pay major financial dividends.
Flexibility is the key in these times I feel. I am launching a new brand – http://discoverunearthed.wordpress.com – in the midst of an economic downturn but it is going tremendously well. Big efforts must be made to give consumers great value but a little bit of inspiration never goes astray either!
